Playing Catch-Up

I have been trying to catch-up and clean up all sorts of things that needed attention.  I am actually getting to the end of my lists.

The family reunion in August is pretty much taken care of:  hotel, air, dinner $ sent.   Car is yet to be taken care of.  It is helping that my daughter is doing the details!.....now how hard is that!  And Taxes are done and paid.  Son #1 did all the dirty work on that.  Life is getting easier!!! :-)

I have all my duties done for the "Gone with the Wind" Picnic on April 18......and no, I did it all.  Though Cathy is finishing up on the 2 dresses she volunteered for.

The May 2nd Tea/Fashion show at Ardenwood is coming along.  Luke and Even are doing the photos.  I am just trying to round up the 20 some models to figure out what they are wearing and coming up with a little blurb about them as they show off.

We are heading down to Pacific Grove tomorrow for a little get-away for me and my hubby.  The weather should be beautiful!

Ben Update

Ben Update

This session of IVIG will be over this evening.  Then 6 weeks from now will be the next 3 day treatment.

This time he hasn't had any OCD issues, tics or spacing out.  He spent most of the time playing his lego computer game.  Last time he had night issues of some crying, stomach aches and head ache but so far this time none of those.

He is really alert and no sign of PANDAS.  Wouldn't it be wonderful it this is the answer!!!

Ben Update!

Lots has been happening and I have been very remiss on posting.  Sorry.

Ben Update
Ben's second IVIG treatment series has started.  Today was day 2.  So far, so good.  Actually really good.

Usually the IVIG treatment brings improvement at first, then gradually the improvements goes down.  Each series brings more improvement than the last one and the improvements goes down less with each successive series.

Yesterday and today Ben was very clear, no pacing or other symptoms.

His 14th birthday was today, what a way to celebrate.

He is scheduled for about 5 more treatment series spaced 6 months apart.

The greenhouse project

Some years ago I decided to change my greenhouse from a place to grow seedlings, into a home for my hot tub.  It was a big decision for me.  I didn't know if the hot tub would be damaged by the sunlight and heat in the greenhouse.  But I did know I do not like drafts and I do like privacy.

I bought the hot tub and found some screening that stops UV rays that would hurt the finish on the hot tub.  The hot tub and the screening went in the greenhouse.

Over the years the pollen came in through the ceiling windows and stained the screens.

The heaviest staining was at the windows:

The screening comes in cut pieces or a large roll.

This photo was taken with just a few things left to do.

Costume Academy!

Today was Costume Academy held at San Jose's History San Jose Museum.  There were 4 sessions of classes and we were kept busy.  I learnt a lot even in the areas that I thought I knew well.

I will be taking pictures of some of the things I came away with.

Tomorrow, Costume Academy!

Another busy day... But, I have the ceiling finished in the greenhouse.  A special ceiling, not just the glass ceiling.  I put pictures  and info up when I am done.

Lots of little things to get done.  Why do they seem to take up so much time???

Tonight I have the car all packed with all the stuff I need for tomorrows Costume Academy.
My classes are:
Hand Sewing Basics
Seam Finishes for Every Seam
Make a Set of False Ringlets
Regency Bodice aka Sleeveless Spencer

I'm a little nervous about the last one.  I made some stays over a year ago Just with the idea of trying to figure out how they are made.  When it came to fitting, I was totally at a loss.  I have no idea how they are really supposed to fit.  Anyhow, I got this class and am supposed to have stays to fit the Spencer to.... and now I am stuck with fitting to the stays I really don't think fit me correctly.  Well, maybe I will learn what the stays are supposed to end up like and just use what I learn to make new stays and a better fitted Spencer.

I am still around but so totally busy!!  Finishing several projects, one of them being the replacement of all the screening fabric in my spa area!  about 3/4 done at this point.

I signed up for the Costume Academy which is this Saturday in San Jose.  I didn't get all the classes I wanted but I am sure I will learn plenty.  I promise to post about the day!

Pics are coming!

Jen said she took lots of pictures at the Game of Thrones event but has to check them out for "mouths open", etc.  I'll post when I get them.

They had a wonderful time and the castle was amazing!

I will be leaving their house after feeding the grandkids a bit later.  We never did get rain here but it did pour and thunder for a short time back at my house!  There was no wind here either and that is unusual, there was just beautiful clouds.  There has been just enough moisture the really green up the hills and they are beautiful.  A cow was mooing at the top of the hill last night.  It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what the sound was.... I am more used to dogs barking than cows mooing!

I did take a couple of pictures but forgot my cord to download them to the computer.

Note: a new project will be starting at our house.  We are taking drastic measures re: the drought and the aging prospect.  There will be a whole series on this project I am sure.
