My dad used to have kids on his lap all the time, sometimes more than one at a time. Sometimes he would be trying to read the newspaper at the same time. With 7 kids it was a common sight.
Our Aunt Edna had a friend that did sculptures and one of her sculptures looked like my dad with one of us girls on his lap. Aunt Edna bought this sculpture and when we closed up her place she gave it to me. It is called "Tell Me About It" by Kathryn R Martin.
Kathryn Martin developed some kind of disease which made her hands go numb so she would no longer do her sculptures. This in one of her last pieces.
