Save the date!

Reagan's nursery in Fremont, CA will be holding Art in the Garden June 29th and 30th 11 am to 4 pm.  There will be artists with all kinds of art, paintings, Jewelry, glass and pottery art. And there will be music and this year, a special food truck!

Reagan's is my 2nd favorite nursery, Annies Anuals is the first, but it is much further away from me.  Reagan's is so special for their variety of roses and the workers all know their stuff, and very willing to offer help and advice, something you don't find at those big box stores.

Most of my yard is furnished by Reagan's through the many years  Speaking of which, I took some pictures in the garden this morning.

I thought this hydrangea was dead after our house was tented for termites last fall
See the little butterfly on the peony leaf, reminds me of those I've seen on CalBug recently!
The chickens have been having a ball taking dust baths around my new baby Geranium.  I put bricks there so they can't kick the plant out.  They have dug all around it.
We bought a couple of these motion detector sprinklers that go off when the chickens go in the flower beds.
The artichoke is loaded with blossoms.

The plums are coming along, but it will be a fairly small crop this year.  We had heavy rain and wind during blossom time.
The lemons are doing well.
The peaches will be a very small crop this year.
You can see, I haven't weeded this area yet.
We keep forgetting to turn off the hoses so we now use this system of a wire necklace we wear when we turn the faucet on.  It works....Senior moments are a pain, but at least the water bills won't be so high!  We are all set up for a drought.  We had a lot of rain in the Fall and early Winter, then it pretty much stopped.  This coming Fall will tell if we are gong into a drought, so we are trying to be careful.  Our rainy season is from mid or late October, then it goes through May.  If the Sierra Mountains don't get good snow then drought rears its ugly head.

  1. Love the necklace idea! I need to do that when I clean the filter on the pond. It takes about 5 minutes by reversing the water flow out of the pond - 5 min turns into 5 hours and an empty pond.

  2. 5 hrs and a burnt out pump. You have to make the necklace a little uncomfortable or you forget it is on. The stiff wire really works - no slip ups yet!
