Jen's Front Yard

So many of us have a nice lawn in the front yard that we spend lot of time and water on.   When Jen and Robert decided to give up the lawn idea in exchange for a yard with native and drought resistant plants I had thoughts of tons of weeds before the plants could take over.  Jen has had serious back and neck injury and has had back surgery so weeding would not be a good thing.   They put down a weed barrier at first and put down a wood chip mulch.  But they did a great job and the plants took over well.

They live on the side of a hill so that can be a challenge right there.

They made a little rock wall near the street edge of the yard.  It is more edging than wall and adds interest with the texture of the rocks.

There are always little surprises like this succulent here.

And there is a bench for when you get tired in the garden.

 And there is nice color.

And, of course, chickens, snails and frogs!

 And unusual plants....

This guy is a very dangerously pokey TOMATO plant!   I don't remember if the fruit is edible.

And here is Jen's beanstalk!  The bees just love this thing.

I have decided to put off working on the 1903 skirt pattern after 3 tries at resizing and I am still not happy with the results.  So I will try again after the hat class and start from a different angle.

Today I have several patterns to copy.  Jen and Robert will be arriving tomorrow so have to get the patterns done today!

All the pets have been good and happy and keeping me busy!
