Painting Excitement

Spring weather is here and out come the artists, their eyes blinking in the sunlight after a winter in the studio.  Off our little group went to find the beautiful spot on top of a hill overlooking a wonderful valley.

This hill is not far away but rather a challenge to get to, the last road is not maintained except for a gravel topping 2 times a year.  So....we took a pickup, since there are gullies in places and the pickup is higher than our cars. The views are beautiful and we were so anxious to paint!

So as we drove up one of the last hills the truck tires slipped and spun in the loose gravel.  After many tries we ended up off the side of the road with tires in gravel filled ruts.

While waiting for AAA to come pull the truck out, we took pictures of the area.  We thought about just painting there but AAA came really fast.  So we were rescued and ended up back off the hills and had just a little time left to paint and not nearly as nice views.  Oh, darn.

We will return but it will be with a 4-wheel drive truck the next time!

There were so many beautiful scenes!

We shall return!

  1. Where was this? Looks like east of Napa. If it was - Rob and I were just there this weekend. Your painting friends should stay at 3 Springs - such a great price and 70 acres of beautiful land with Oak trees galore. http://www.vrbo.com/254334
